Questions to ask when choosing a kitchen fitter

You’ve chosen the kitchen of your dreams and all you need to do now is find a kitchen fitter and with the cost of installation often the same or even more than the kitchen itself, choosing the right kitchen fitter is essential.

As with any tradesperson the best way to find someone is through recommendation so ask your friends and family who they used.  Ensure you get three quotes and although price is a factor also consider things such as whether they made useful suggestions on how the kitchen could look and whether they had attention to detail.

Do you have a portfolio?

Before you book, take a look at your fitters previous work. And if possible try to ask a former client about their experience using the fitter.

Is skip hire/kitchen removal included in the price?

Avoiding extra hassle such as booking skip hire and taking out the old kitchen is ideal. However, if you are on a tight budget, removing and disposing the kitchen yourself may save you £££’s on your installation bill.

How long is the work guaranteed for?

Just like how your kitchen will come with a guarantee, the fitter’s work should too. If something should go wrong will the fitter put things right at no extra cost?

Does the quote include VAT?

Many kitchen fitters probably won’t charge VAT but it's best to be clear from the very beginning so there are no nasty surprises on invoice day.

Finally, when selecting a kitchen fitter don’t choose one who asks for money up front. You should only play upon completion, once you are happy with the quality of workmanship.
