Jewson carcassing timber is kiln-dried and treated to Use Class 2 and 3, suitable for a wide range of applications including above-ground outdoor use and interior structures. It is strong and durable, making it a good option for fence building, pergolas, decking and other outdoor construction.
What is carcassing timber? It's wood that has been dried and treated, before being planed along four sides to create uniform timber carcassing. Priced per metre, our carcassing timber is available in standard lengths from 600mm to 3,600mm and we can supply custom lengths to order if required - just ask in-branch at your nearest Jewson Timber Specialist.
For manual handling, we supply carcassing timbers with eased edges, which takes the sharpness off of the corners. This is perfect for structures like decks and pergolas where the corners will remain exposed, as well as for more comfortable lifting over the course of a long installation process or construction project.
Carcassing timber can be fixed in place using a variety of methods, from wood glue and screws for lighter fixing, through to heavy-duty metalwork that not only holds the timber in place, but also lends additional support and rigidity to the completed structure. This again is ideal for outdoor construction, to ensure decking stays level and to reduce the need for regular maintenance.
Jewson timber is sustainably sourced and available in quantities from a single joist or batten through to bulk orders for substantial construction projects. For more information about the Chain of Custody for each product, check its specifications on our website or ask in-branch.
